I Finally found the last pieces to s/n 054 back in the vast collection of aircraft pieces located at the air museum, hidden for years after rescuing this 1-26A from back lot (no one knows when it was donated) canopy and turtle deck, does anyone else remember the significance of these old school marks on the canopy? Cool!

Quite probable that those are marks that show in the photos taken to confirm turnpoints in racing. Pilots would mount cameras along the rail. (The second camera was just a backup to the first) Rules required that a mark be placed on the canopy that would show in each frame of the film to prove that the camera never moved during the contest…Read More
